My 5 Favourite Stitch Book for Crochet Designers

When it comes to getting inspired for crochet design, one of my most used tools is a stitch book! There are a lot out there and everyone one of them is likely going to have some overlap. I have 5 favourites and I like having the options.

What is a stitch book? A stitch book is a resource book full of crochet stitches. They show you a variety of crochet stitches ranging from simple to advanced. They have pictures and sometimes charts of the stitch and have detailed instructions on how to make the stitch. The instructions will tell you how many chains you’ll need to make a repeat of the stitch and then step-by-step how to complete it.

These books are designed to help you find new stitches that can be used in designs. You can use the instructions to help write your out own patterns. BUT WAIT… what about my biggest fear: accidentally copying? You should plan on incorporating the stitch into a full design. Your design cannot be a simple repeat of this stitch. You need to create something with the stitch or stitches. You will need to choose a yarn type and size, a hook, gauge it out, and design your pattern with the stitch incorporated!
